Child Swap Overview
Universal Orlando offers a Child Swap option for most attractions inside the Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme parks. This offering allows children who are too short or too scared to go on a ride to skip the attraction while other members of the party ride.
Also, the offering is free to use for all guests. Plus, some attractions offer entertainment inside the Child Swap waiting room, such as a TV screen playing a movie, while guests wait. For example, some of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter rides play movies from the film series inside their waiting rooms.

How to Use Child Swap at Universal Orlando
To take advantage of child swap, enter the attraction queue as normal with the full party. An attraction attendant at the entrance may try to measure the child’s height. If this happens and the kiddo is not tall enough to ride, let them know you plan to use the child swap offering.
When your party nears the ride loading platform, let the closest Universal team member know you want to use child swap. That team member will direct you to the waiting room or assigned waiting area. Any non-riders and one accompanying guardian will go to the waiting area while the rest of the party stays in line and rides.
Then, after riding, the rest of the party will return to the waiting area to watch the kiddos while the person who waited initially returns to the ride loading platform for their turn on the attraction.
Also, more than one person can wait with the kiddos initially so nobody has to ride alone.

Pteranodon Flyers “Parent Swap”
Pteranodon Flyers, located in Islands of Adventure, does not offer a traditional Child Swap option since a child between 36 to 56 inches tall must be present to ride. Although, the ride can offer “parent swap” on request, meaning the opposite of child swap.
Essentially, two adults can take turns experiencing the attraction with a rider meeting the ride’s height range. For example, in the case where there are two parents and one child, and both parents want to ride, they can take turns riding with the child.
