Pteranodon Flyers Ride Overview
Climb aboard Pteranodon Flyers for sweeping views over Camp Jurassic and the surrounding areas of Jurassic Park and Skull Island: Reign of Kong. This kid-oriented suspended roller coaster takes riders for a gentle ride 65-feet in the air with no drops or sudden movements.
Also, this gentle nature makes the ride an excellent choice for kids not quite ready for the more thrilling attractions around the park. Although, the ride only lasts for about 90 seconds, so keep that in mind when the wait times get high during mid-day.

Location
Pteranodon Flyers is located inside Camp Jurassic in Jurassic Park at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park.
Basic Ride Information
Ride Type: Suspended Family Roller Coaster
Thrill Level: Low – Fun for all ages.
Test Seat: Not available
Height Requirement:
- The minimum height requirement is 36 inches (or 92 cm) and the maximum height is 56 inches (or 143 cm).
- Riders under 48 inches (122 cm) require a supervising companion.
- Also, guests over the maximum height of 56 inches must be accompanied by a guest meeting the height requirements.
Author’s Note: To simplify the above information, the ride is designed for children 36 to 56 inches tall. So, guests above 56 inches may only ride if they are accompanying a child within that height range.
Child Swap: This ride does not offer a traditional child swap since a child in the height range must be present to ride. Although, the ride can offer “parent swap” on request, meaning the opposite of child swap. For example, in the specific case where there are two adults and one child, and both adults want to ride, they can take turns riding with the child.
Save Time in Line: This ride does not accept Universal Express or offer a single rider line. Although, the ride sometimes offers a virtual line.
Ride Photo: This attraction does not offer an on-ride photo.
Loose Articles: Bags and loose articles may be left on a designated box on the loading platform while riding.
Accessibility:
- Guests in wheelchairs must transfer onto the ride vehicle.
- Learn additional accessibility information on Universal Orlando’s website here.
Our Recommendations
Ride Priority: Moderate – Experience this ride as long as time allows.
Best Time to Ride: For the shortest wait, ride during the first 60 minutes that the park is open. Since this ride only accommodates six guests on the track at a time, the wait can grow long and the line moves slow. We recommend riding this on a day where they are using the Virtual Line.
Best Seats in the House: Each ride vehicle only contains two seats, but the front seat is the best.
