Attraction Lockers at Universal Orlando

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando 2022 - United Thrills

Universal Orlando provides lockers for a quite a few attractions and oftentimes requires guests to place bags and/or loose articles inside them while they ride. This locker system can often be an adjustment for first time visitors who are used to visiting Disney where most belongings can be brought on rides.

To make things easy, we’ve split the attraction locker options into three groups. These groups are:

  • Attractions that require lockers for all loose articles & bags
  • Attractions that require lockers for bags
  • Optional water ride lockers

Also, for attraction lockers, guests use their park ticket or annual pass to rent and reopen a locker. So, keep your park ticket with you as you ride. If you accidentally leave the ticket in the locker, find the assigned Universal team member nearby for assistance.

Author’s Note: Guests taking advantage of the Child Swap offering are allowed to bring bags into any ride queue to leave with the non-rider. Simply notify the attraction attendant at the entrance and they will let you enter with your bags.

Attractions that Require Lockers for All Loose Articles & Bags

The three high-speed outdoor roller coasters at the resort all prohibit lost articles and bags on the ride. Plus, all riders pass through a metal detector in the queue which means pockets have to be empty of phones, keys, or other items. Although, secure items like watches and belts are allowed.

For these attractions, free small lockers are available while guests ride and can hold items including phones, empty Coke Freestyle Cups, most cameras, and small bags like purses. Larger lockers than can fit backpacks inside are available to rent starting at $2.

Attractions that fall into this locker category include:

Also, for Jurassic World VelociCoaster, the small lockers are located inside the queue, so guests may bring items like phones into the queue with them initially. Backpacks and larger items must still be placed inside a larger pay-for locker before entering the queue which are located inside the Jurassic Park Discovery Center.

Attractions that Require Lockers for Bags

A variety of attractions require lockers for bags but still allow items like phones and car keys to remain in pockets. For these attractions, free small lockers are available while guests ride, if the bag is small enough, and larger lockers than can fit backpacks inside are available to rent starting at $2.

Attractions that fall into this locker category include:

Optional Water Ride Lockers

The three main water rides at Universal’s Islands of Adventure offer pay-for lockers near the ride entrance for guests who don’t want their bags or other items to get wet. For these rides, small lockers cost $4 and large lockers cost $5 for the first 90 minutes. After the first 90 minutes, the lockers cost an additional $3 for every 30 minutes after up to a maximum of $20 per day.

Attractions that fall into this locker category include:

Although, Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges also offers a covered compartment on each raft to store most items in, that usually works well in keeping items dry. Just make sure items are properly covered!

Theme Park Entrance Lockers at Universal Orlando

Entrance Lockers at Universal Studios Florida 2022 - United Thrills

Both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure offer all-day lockers near the front entrance. Large lockers cost $12 and family-size lockers cost $15 for the full day. These lockers can be paid for with card or cash. Also, guests will use their park tickets to access the locker throughout the day, like with the attraction lockers.

Volcano Bay Lockers at Universal Orlando

Volcano Bay offers three sizes of lockers that can be rented for the full day. Small lockers cost $14, medium lockers cost $20, and large lockers cost $25.

Also, guests can purchase the lockers with credit or debit card (the easiest way) or through the cash payment kiosks provided. Once purchased, guests will link the locker to their TapuTapu band, given to each guest when entering the park. Then, they can use the TapuTapu band to reopen the locker throughout the day.

These lockers can be found in five main locker areas. These locations include:

  • Wave Village Lockers – East (located near Waturi Marketplace)
  • Wave Village Lockers – West (located near Dancing Dragons Boat Bar)
  • Rainforest Village Lockers (located near Maku Puihi Round Raft Rides)
  • River Village Lockers (located near Krakatau Aqua Coaster)
  • At the Volcano Bay Entrance/Exit

Also, the two main locker areas located in the front of the park (Wave Village East and West) often get crowded, so it may be worth heading towards the back of the park for the other two locations to find available lockers. Although, sometimes the Rainforest Village Lockers are closed on less busy days.

Additionally, Volcano Bay add-ons including private cabanas and premium seating come with a complimentary locker built in.
