Jurassic World VelociCoaster Ride Overview
Join the hunt and brave a high-speed chase through the park’s Raptor paddock on Jurassic World VelociCoaster.
This apex predator of roller coasters is the tallest and fastest launched roller coaster in all of Florida. Featuring two high-speed launches reaching 70 mph, and a 155 foot top hat, this ride is not for the faint-hearted. The ride also flips riders upside down four times, including one final 360-degree barrel roll mere feet above the lagoon.

Loose Articles:
- Loose articles, outside of your park ticket, are not allowed on the ride, but may be brought into the queue.
- Riders pass through a metal detector before boarding the ride and must leave loose articles in a locker or with a non-rider.
- Secure items like belts and watches are allowed.
Lockers:
- Free small lockers are available while you ride inside the queue shortly before the ride loading platform. Fortunately, this means guests can have most small items, like cell phones, to use while they wait.
- These small lockers can hold items including wallets, empty Coke Freestyle Cups, most cameras, and small bags like purses.
- Larger lockers that can fit backpacks are available inside the nearby Jurassic Park Discovery Center. For these lockers, you must put your items inside before entering the queue as they are in a separate building. Also, these are available to rent starting at $2.
- Additionally, there is a slot at the lockers in the Discovery Center where you can test if your items fit in a small locker before purchasing a larger one.
Guests use their park ticket or annual pass to rent and re-open a locker, so keep your ticket with you as you ride. If you accidentally leave the ticket in the locker, find the assigned Universal team member nearby for assistance.
Accessibility:
- Guests in wheelchairs must transfer onto the ride vehicle.
- Learn additional accessibility information on Universal Orlando’s website here.
Our Recommendations
Ride Priority: High – Plan this into your day.
Best Time to Ride: For the shortest wait, visit the ride immediately after the park opens or during the last 30 minutes before the park closes. This is a good ride to start or end your day with. Although, we highly recommend getting a night ride in if time allows.
Best Seats in the House:
- The back row is best for air time and for the second half of the ride after the second launch. The front row is best during the first half of the ride inside the raptor paddock.
- Also, to sit in the front row, there is a designated line. To sit in the back of the train, riders should kindly ask the attraction attendant at the ride platform.
- We recommend trying both the front and the back to see which you like more! We personally prefer the back.
