4 Big Things That Happened on Day One at IAAPA 2017
IAAPA is well known for being one of the biggest events in the theme park industry. Every year, tons of companies reveal new ride concepts, make announcements for the following year, and unveil ride vehicles for brand new attractions they are creating. But with so much going on, it’s hard to keep track of everything. Fortunately, we’re here to help with the biggest 4 things that happened on day one of IAAPA 2017! Check them out!
1. Time Traveler Ride Vehicle Finally Revealed! And It’s Awesome!
In epic fashion, emerging from a heavy wave of fog, Mack Rides unveiled the ride vehicle for the brand-new Time Traveler Roller Coaster coming to Silver Dollar City in 2018! The size of the vehicle, and the extensive detailing, lead it to be one of the most impressive ride vehicles debuted at IAAPA all day. It is definitely a worthy fit for the record breaking coaster. Time Traveler will feature a 10-story 90 degree drop right out of the station, two high speed launches, and many other crazy elements along the way. This will be a must-ride come its opening in 2018.
2. Dynamic Attractions Brings Two New World Class Attraction Concepts to IAAPA 2017
How would you feel about a dark ride attraction that could go virtually anywhere? It would be awesome, right? But it also seems highly unlikely with what we’ve seen on the market. Well, not anymore! At day one of IAAPA, Dynamic Attractions revealed the world’s first All-Terrain Dark Ride, one of the most revolutionary concepts at IAAPA this year. This attraction would be fitted with vehicles that could go anywhere, inside, or outside, including climbing over rugged terrain, driving down staircases, and more!
Dynamic Attractions also revealed their new Flightcycle concept. With this new attraction, guests would be situated in a motorcycle-like seat inside a theater where the sensation of flight would be simulated. One presented concept including flying alongside or fighting dragons and a group of knights showed up to the press conference to help promote the cause!
3. RMC Unveiled the New Ride Vehicle for Twisted Cyclone
Rocky Mountain Construction unveiled the new ride vehicle for Twisted Cyclone coming to Six Flags Over Georgia in 2018. This is one of three rides getting an RMC make-over next year in the United States. Similarly, the ride vehicle appears to be modeled after an old fashion car and is very nicely done. It is similar to the ride vehicle for Verbolten at Busch Gardens Williamsburg but is a little nicer in our opinion. It was also noted that a few extra bonuses may have been included in the ride layout since the release of the original ride video.
4. The Raft for Infinity Falls Coming to SeaWorld Orlando was Revealed
One of the very first events to take place on day one of IAAPA was SeaWorld’s press conference and unveiling of the new raft for the brand-new Infinity Falls ride coming to SeaWorld Orlando in 2018. The ride will feature a vertical lift and the highest drop of any raft ride in the world. Likewise, this new attraction will continue with SeaWorld’s ‘Park to Planet’ mission. Guests will be able to enjoy the thrill of the ride at the park and then learn about the importance of freshwater conservation at the same time which they will take home with them.
